The Big Island is full of
history. Dating back to the arrival of the Polynesians that
became the Hawaiian people, to the arrival of the first
European explorers, whalers, and missionaries, to the influx
of foreign field workers to support the sugar and pineapple
industries, and finally the annexation of Hawaii by the
American government. There are many museums, historical
landmarks and interesting sights on the Big Island documenting the colorful history
and cultures of Hawaii. |
