  OVERVIEW

This 20-acre waterfowl habitat is located inland from Honokohau Beach , off the trail to Kaloko Honokohau National Historical Park. Aimakapa Fishpond is a loko kuapa (rockwall fishpond) constructed by interlocking large and small rocks across a natural embayment along the Kona coast.  This ingenious technology allowed the ancient Hawaiians to raise and harvest large amounts of fish to feed the population that existed in the area.

  DIRECTIONS

Located along the Kona coast, three miles north of Kailua-Kona and three miles south of Kona International Airport, on Highway 19.
