This National Park Service trail leads past
the base on an enormous war heiau built by
King Kamehameha The Great. Located on the
dry North Kohala Coast, the trail takes you
to other historic sites as well, including a
shady palm grove where Hawaiian royalty once
lived, and the ruins of a homestead of a
stranded British sailor who became a
