The 3.5-star Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort
is a beautiful, oceanfront resort in an
absolutely enchanting setting. Once the
private retreat of Hawaii's royalty, you can
still find a replica of King David
Kalakaua's beach house and the remains of
three heiau, ancient Hawaiian temples. There
are oceanfront tide pools to explore,
Hawaiian sea turtles that will fill you with
wonder and lush gardens filled with native
trees and plants to enjoy. Throughout the
resort you will find wonderful displays of
Hawaiian arts and crafts, from delicate
flower leis to rare Koa wood outrigger
canoes. When checking in, guests receive a
packet of three postcards, one packet per
room. Postcards From Paradise will be mailed
by the Outrigger at no cost to anywhere in
the world. Additional postcards may be
purchased at the Reception Desk, which also
will be mailed at no cost.
For activities, the Outrigger Keauhou Beach
Resort offers a nice variety from six tennis
courts, two of which are lighted; a swimming
pool with children's pool overlooking the
ocean to an Hawaiian culture and arts
program for both adults and children and the
wonderful Kalona Salon & Spa, offering
various types of massages and much more. And
with a minimum three night stay, one Island
Explorer Kit will be given upon check-in to
children ages 5 to 10 years old (2 maximum).
The Kit includes the Island Explorer
Activity Guide, colorful backpack,
binoculars, sunglasses and pen.
The dining options include the open-air
dining at the Kama'aina Terrace with a
lovely panoramic view of the Kona Coast. The
perfect spot to enjoy a sunset, watch the
rare green sea turtles in the tide pools
just below the terrace and listen to some
wonderful Hawaiian music. For more casual
dining you can enjoy a great lunch at the
Kalanikai Bar & Grill, specializing in
hamburgers, salads and sandwiches.
This is a wonderful resort for families, but
