The 2.5-star Kona Seaside Hotel has 225
rooms in three 3-story wings and one five
story tower, most with a lanai/balcony. This
is the ideal hotel for those who want a
clean, friendly place to stay at for very
reasonable prices. The hotel has a great
location for exploring the Big Island and is
just a few minutes walk to the center of
Kailua-Kona with all its shops, restaurants
and night life.
The property is beautifully maintained with
acres of lush lawns and native Hawaiian
plantings. Amenities include two large
swimming pools with sundecks, parking (fee),
laundry facilities, a small shopping mall on
site and business services.
The location is also a great place to take
advantage of all the varied ocean activities
available. Kailua-Kona was once the
playground for Hawaiian royalty and today
serves as an historical waterfront area
where you can arrange for a deep sea fishing
trip, parasailing, snorkeling, scuba diving
and in the winter months, whale watching
when the Humpback Whales arrive in the
islands from Alaska.
Restaurants include Kona Style Fish and
Chips, using only fresh fish caught off the
Big Island, a fantastic ocean view and very
popular with the residents, serving
breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also
the Kona Galley Restaurant on the second
floor, again with great food and great ocean
views.
The Kona Seaside Hotel is a budget property,
but one that offers nice amenities, is clean
and gets very good reviews from guests. If
you are expecting room service, spa tubs,
granite countertops, you will be
disappointed. This a great place for those
people who want an active vacation,
exploring the Big Island with it's coffee
plantations, active volcano, upcountry farms
and ranches and want to come home to a
clean, safe room that is reasonably priced. |
