Nestled on the sun-drenched Kohala Coast on
the Island of Hawaii, the 5-star The
Fairmont Orchid is simply an exquisite
property. This luxurious, all-encompassing
hotel is built on a breathtaking 32-acre
beach front, complete with a full service
spa, a 10,000-square-foot pool, a beautiful
white sand beach with swimming lagoon,
championship tennis courts and the Francis
H. I'I Brown golf course.
Property amenities include an Ethernet
network and wireless internet access in
public areas such as the lobby and the
various lounges. The award-winning Spa
Without Walls is a full service facility
with private outdoor venues and indoor
treatment rooms, a steam room and dry sauna.
They offer every type of massage such as
Swedish, Shiatsu and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi. The
Fitness Center features the latest in
fitness equipment with wonderful views of
the lawn and pool beyond.
The Fairmont Orchid offers an optional
"Wellness Within Activity" Pass for $80
adults, age 13 and above and the "Fun & Sun
Activity Pass" for $55 adults and $40 for
children 5 to 12 years old. The one time
purchase is good for every day of your stay.
"Wellness Within Activity Pass" features
seaside yoga, aqua fitness, Pilates, core
strength conditioning and much more, as well
as a 20% discount on private lessons and 10%
discount on all Spa services and products.
The "Fun & Sun Activity Pass" features
activity tools, such as snorkels, masks,
fins soft-top surfboards, personal CD
player, one and two person kayaks, plus
instructions on how to use the equipment. On
Fridays there is "Talk Story" with the
Orchid Beachboys, part ambassador, part
lifeguard and part historians of local lore.
Complimentary activities include daily
Hawaii Arts & Crafts, weekly botanical tour
of the grounds, Honu (turtle) Snorkel where
you see the Hawaiian sea turtle underwater,
cultural hikes on the resort exploring
ancient Hawaiian petroglyphs and lava
shelter caves, Long Game Golf Clinic at the
adjacent Francis H. I'I Brown Golf Course
and A'ama (crab) Volleyball, a weekly
3-person volleyball challenge against the
beach attendants in the sand court near the
beach and even Sunset Volleyball.
The free form 10,000 square foot swimming
pool is open 24 hours a day. Located in the
middle of the resort, right on the ocean, it
is surrounded by tropical landscaping, with
poolside lunches and drinks available from
the Ocean Bar and the Kahakai Bar and near
Brown's Deli for great gourmet paninis.
There are two nearby lava rock whirlpools,
also open 24 hours and a kid's pool complex
with a sandy bottom and a large sun deck
with comfortable lounges.
The Fairmont Orchid boasts some excellent
restaurants on site offering everything from
casual to fine dining cuisine. The Orchid
Court offers the island's premier breakfast
buffet and the award-winning oceanfront
Brown's Beach House Restaurant serves
island-inspired Big Island cuisine, as well
as nightly live entertainment. The Grill
offers a fine dining menu; the Luana Terrace
a light appetizer menu, along with beautiful
views; Norio's Japanese Restaurant and Sushi
Bar some great sushi; The Luana Lounge
features a light menu with nightly
entertainment; and you can always try out a
game of billiards or board games in the
classy Polo Bar. And for a memorable
Polynesian feast under the stars be sure to
attend "The Gathering of the Kings" held
Tuesday and Thursday nights.
