OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
The 3-star gated condominium, Outrigger
Kanaloa at Kona is located on an outcropping
of lava rock overlooking beautiful Keahou
Bay. The 18-acre ocean front location is
beautifully landscaped with lush tropical
plants and features 37 buildings of two and
three floors (stairs only) and is part of
the Outrigger Hawaii Condominium Collection.
When checking in, guests receive a packet of
three postcards, one packet per room.
Postcards From Paradise will be mailed by
the Outrigger at no cost to anywhere in the
world. Additional postcards may be purchased
at the Reception Desk, which also will be
mailed at no cost. With a minimum three
night stay, children, 5 to 10 years of age
(2 maximum) are given a free Island Explorer
Kit at check-in. Each Island Explorer Kit
includes a Friends of the Reef Adventure
Guide/Let's Explore Hawaii Guide, colorful
backpack, sunglasses, pen and binoculars.
There are three swimming pools (Main, Adult
Only and Oceanfront), each with a sun deck,
whirlpool and nearby barbeque grills. The
main pool just finished a total renovation
with beautiful tiles used around the
sundeck. Other property amenities include
two lighted tennis courts, picnic areas,
Edward's Restaurant serving breakfast, lunch
and dinner next to the oceanfront pool, four
bars/cocktail lounges, complimentary parking
and complimentary wireless internet
available in the lobby and adjoining pool
area. For golfers, the Kona Country Club
adjoins the Kanaloa at Kona and features 36
holes of championship golf. There is a tour
desk, luggage storage, laundry/dry cleaning
and best of all perhaps, a friendly, helpful
staff.
The condo is located only 7 miles south of
the town of Kona and a few minutes from the
Keauhou Shopping Center. One of the best
places to snorkel in Hawaii is only a mile
north at Kahaluu Beach Park and well worth a
visit. Of course, what many people do who
stay in condos is make several of their
meals "at home", saving money for perhaps
some special activities or dinners in the
process.
For some reason, preparing a meal while on
vacation in Hawaii and watching the sun set
over the ocean while eating it on your
lanai, is not as much work as at home. There
is a Costco, Wal-Mart and Safeway in the
Kona area, as well as other smaller grocery
outlets. Perfect for picking up those steaks
to barbeque by the pool or items for morning
breakfasts on the lanai. There is a minimum
of a two day stay at the Kanaloa at Kona,
but then again, why would anyone want to
stay only one night and miss out on all that
is offered? |
